Just as many pop culture trends change rapidly around the world, so too does online bingo. I have seen tremendous changes in online bingo since the few short years that I have been writing about the subject. It is unfortunate that land based bingo is having a hard time of it in the present economic climate and many clubs have had to close down, but this is not due to the fact that we now play online bingo instead. There are a number of variables contributing to the decline of land based bingo.
But back to online bingo, the growth in popularity of this game has been exponential and for the time being this is not slowing down. The trend of playing online games has always been big, it started right back with those computer games we played on DOS based systems. Games like “Leisure Suit Larry” and “Dangerous Dave”, even the more basic games like “Lemmings” and “Pac Man”.
It was great not to have to go to the corner shop to play on their computerized games, all we had to do was sit back in the comfort of our own home and play. So it is understandable that when online bingo and other forms of gaming became available through the power of the internet, that people were going to want to play it from the comfort of their homes.
In more recent times however the trend has changed to encompass some really big cash and other prizes as the competition between online bingo sites grows. Fortunately for we who play online bingo, this has benefited us the most.
