The reports of devastating effects on bingo halls from the smoking ban continue to roll in, and send players into the sun – or online – instead of into bingo halls.
More bingo halls seem to be closing every day due to the drop in participation of the smoking section of the bingo community. Beginning last July, no smoking was permitted inside a public venue. Ignoring this ban could cost the establishment huge fines. The downfall of the bingo hall began that fateful day.
Now bingo hall operators are looking towards a solution that would suit all involved. The so-called “bingo garden” may become a common addition to land based bingo halls. This would be an outdoor area that is in range of wireless units that would keep the player gaming while they step out to get a smoke.
The technology for this has yet to be determined, and the price points are still a mystery as well. The predominant answer for smokers has been to simply stay home and play bingo games online so far. It will likely take some incredible bonus offers for players to return to the bingo halls at this point.
The hope is that the lure of a beautiful garden area will be appealing to smokers and non-smokers alike. The Zen feel may contrast with the regular excitement of a bingo hall, but it remains to be seen as an actual location at any bingo halls.
