TV Bingo Latest Threat to Bingo Halls

Apparently Global Gaming Entertainment NV and Euro Gambling Ltd have sold Bingos dot com to Netplay TV Plc.

This is a surprise to over a million players that have registries online. The gamers spend more than £120 million every year on bingo games online. The plans for future expansion of the online bingo gaming are unclear at this point. NetPlay executives sound as though they have huge hopes for new ways to integrate television and bingo. Those hopes may serve another crushing blow to the land bingo establishments.

Despite the opportunity to eliminate the double taxing on bingo halls that came on 12 March, bingo halls remain in a state of double taxation. The many clubs that are still open in spite of this may suffer even further if bingo games are linked to television. The forced closure of many bingo halls will continue as the double taxation takes its toll. If they lose even more players, the entire industry of land bingo may disappear forever.

As if these are not enough, remember the limitations that have been loosened for slot machines that are allowing some super casinos to be built that will further draw players away from the traditional bingo hall settings. The bingo world as we know it is shrinking like the rainforests, with no real end in sight.
